Because of a unanimous declaration.
July 04, 2009

Independence Day is typically AN EVENT in the Schlothan Christensen household.  Most years, we drive out to Lake Elsinore and spend the day celebrating our liberty at an enormous family party.  Lake Elsinore is, however: a) over an hour away, b) a place the sun likes to sit down and fart, and c) where many a drunkard spend the holiday weekend.  Since we don’t want to find ourselves two hours away from the hospital, stuck behind a line of overheated vehicles manned by drunk idiots, and since I’m not particularly keen on repeating last year’s experience of watching the candles INDOORS melt into a pathetic pile of wax not two feet from the air conditioning vent, we have decided to lay low around the house this year.  We’ll overheat next year, when I’m a little less pregnant.

Whatever your plans are for the holiday, I hope you enjoy them!  HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!

Which lends the question: what are you doing this weekend?

Haha! I kind of love the word “drunkard.“
    Happy forth!

    Great pictures.

I’m not going to lie. I actually thought: Wouldn’t it be funny if she was pregnant again next year? Haha. It happens.

    Happy 4th!

Hah!  I hear you on Lake Elsinore.

When I was a kid, we used to drive to San Marcos (I’m not sure why, it’s no cooler than Escondido), go to Baskin Robbins, and sit outside eating our ice cream.  That’s the way to watch fireworks, if you ask me.

Sitting in front of the air conditioner… farting.

Good call. If my husband wasn’t such big fan of the crowds and parties, I would have stayed home and celebrated by eating an entire carton of ice cream. That’s not wrong, is it?

Hi - I stumbled on your blog from your comment on Pioneer Woman’s site.

    Well, it could be worse…

This 4th of July was spent eating Korean food from the street vendors set up outside our Army base. We completely missed the fireworks they shot off because the hubby just had to try that squid.

Best wishes from an overseas Army wife!

With the exception of the last 8 years, the 4th happens to be my favorite holiday! Somehow we always manage to “celebrate” it with a house project. So we built a dog tree house over the holiday week!  We’ll just have to see how long it takes for Juno to chew it up…

I didn’t do anything on July 4th.  Nothing.  I laid around the house in my pjs and I slept on the couch and I tried not to be sick.  And I loved it.  :)
