Love: one day at a time.
September 27, 2010

The day that our marriage began, we joined hands before walking in to celebrate with our family and friends.  Are you ready, Mr. Christensen?  I’m ready, Mrs. Christensen.  And we knew: this was going to be good.

That first night in our house, we set down a mattress and walked outside into the dark because he wanted to carry me over the threshold.  We dreamed the dreams of new homeowners, imagined the possibilities, wondered at the silence that echoes when one’s neighbors are not only twelve inches away.  Good-night, Mr. Christensen, I whispered in the dark.  Good-night, Mrs. Christensen, he whispered back.  And we knew: this was going to be good.

On the morning after our daughter’s birth, we traced our fingers along the length of her in wonder.  In awe.  In disbelief.  Memorizing every inch of her, promising every promise to her.  I love her, Mr. Christensen.  I love her too, Mrs. Christensen.  And we knew: this was going to be good.

Charlotte likes to help her Daddy out around the house.

And looking back, seeing the skeletons of marriages we have known to crumble and couples we have watched lose their homes and families we have seen shattered, it seems no small miracle that we were right on all accounts.  So far, so good.

In fact: so far?  EVEN BETTER.

What a sweet, meaningful post.  Being in love with your husband and your children makes for a very happy, blessed life.  I count us both as a couple of the lucky ones.  :)

Lovely!  I was thinking a similar thing over the weekend while we went to the wedding of our two friends.  The adversities we have all endured and overcame.  Everyday is better than the day before.  Everyday I wake up and have this love that surrounds me more than the day before.  It’s more than I could have ever hoped for.

You’ve got quite the family, my dear.  So sweet :0)

I think I’ve read every post you’ve ever written on this little blog over the two years or so I’ve been reading. This one is still my favorite.
