Yesterday, my sweet girl was placed on my chest, a writhing gooey bundle.  She was red and defenseless and perfect.

Today, she can feed herself.  She uses a few words, climbs trees with low branches, and totes my purse around the house on her shoulder.  When I am exasperated, she comes to me and lays her head on my shoulder and pats my back.

How this enormous transformation has occurred will always remain one of my life’s greatest mysteries.
