I don’t think I have ever had them. Some of my favorite childhood memories is berry picking (usually blueberries and blackberries) with my grandfather. That along with clamming was so much fun! I hope my kids can have those experiences later once we dig our way out of condo/building hell.

I’ve never been clamming, so we’re even =)

Mulberries are a very mild sweet flavor.  There are a few different types and I’m not really sure what variety this tree is, but when we were kids we lived in this tree during berry season!  Yum!

Late May strawberries ripen around here - and then cherries follow quickly behind with black/rasp/blueberries… needless to say, I’m stoked for the next month and a half!

I feel like I learn a little bit about nature every time I read your blog.  I didn’t even know what a mulberry was before now.

Your daughter is adorable among them though!

I just started reading your blog (first to last) today.  My kids love mulberries too!  We have a HUGE tree in our back yard.  It’s so tall I have to pull the branches down for my nine year old to reach!!  It’s funny to hear them tell each other “Be careful!  The not ripe berries will make you sick!  Don’t eat that one!!“.  As they trade cautions I’m glad they love each other enough to constantly guard one another.
