The aquarium.
September 01, 2011

This week is my first week of flying solo after the miscarriage.  On Monday, Charlotte and I hosted a playgroup.  We laid out fingerpaints, a five-pound bag of flour on a towel, and had several buckets and pots filled with sidewalk chalk, rocks, sticks, and water.  It was fun and afterwards we both crashed.  On Tuesday, we stayed busy with the chickens and the garden.  It was fun and afterwards we both crashed.  On Wednesday, we met up with my friend Cindy and her daughter Bailey at the aquarium.  It was fun and afterwards we both crashed.

Given that I measure just about everything in the amount of nap-time that ensues, I am going to declare the week thus far a resounding success.

Bummed to miss playgroup - those are all Maggie’s favorite’s! (Although, she’s not into finger painting yet, she doesn’t like getting her hands dirty.) But, I’m so glad that you’re starting to feel better. Keep enjoying nap-time!

what excatly did they do with the flour, play in it or did you do some sort of craft or both? I am always looking for new things that are inexpensive for my kids to play with and this intrigues me

Sara - Maybe we’ll catch you next time =)

Sarah - They just played with it, but I also had squirt bottles with colored water ready if they wanted to mix things up and see what happened.  Nobody did, though.  They were really busy playing with the flour.  I just put the bag there and they opened it, threw it around, pretended to bake pancakes, etc.  A couple kids also mixed it with dirt and leaves.

I’m glad you already answered about the flour, I wondered too.

I’m glad you all had fun.  I miss my old playgroup.  I need to find a new one here in our new town.
