DIY baby-carrier for a toddler: a happy accident.
October 14, 2011

After purging their closet recently, someone passed a bunch of hand-downs to me.  There were a few bikinis in the lot so yesterday I went through and tried them on and picked one to replace my ten-year-old pink sparkly thing.  Finally.

One of the bikinis had a tube top and look, maybe YOU have cleavage, but I’m the sort of woman who swells all the way to an A cup during pregnancy.  There are sheets of plywood with more curvature than me, so tube tops aren’t really an option because there is exactly NOTHING on my chest to hold them up.  So I tossed it into the donate pile.

Charlotte salvaged it from the donate pile, slung it over her shoulder like a sash, and declared SLING!  Then she found her monkey and carried him around “giving milk” for the rest of the afternoon.  OHMYGOSHSOCUTE!

Okay, that is just absolutely ridiculously cute. And making it even funnier for me is that the blog post I read right before this one (on a different blog) featured a two year old with a stuffed baby in his “moby.“ So sweet.

    That is awesome…

For future reference you can also make a sling/wrap out of Donald’s pyjama pants (mine aren’t long enough, so I don’t think yours will be either), a tank top, a scarf and some tights. We’ve become pretty creative with whatever we have on hand whenever Isla decides she wants to wrap Luvy… Which is usually when we’re away from home.

I realize I can only echo everyone else, but holy moly. This is so super cute!

Also, Sean was like “man! Why didn’t we think of that when Jasper was a baby?“

Like…carrying Jasper in a swimsuit top? I have no idea.

I love babywearing and babywearing babies just slay me.

By the way, did you perhaps know that this week is Int’l Babywearing Week?

(Oh wait, was it last week?)

On an early age, she will learn by herself how to take care of people around him. She will develop a very nice behavioral traits on treating people around her. I am glad that she was being trained simply like this. Impressive parents.
