19 Weeks
February 24, 2009

These days, the baby is roughly the size and shape and general consistency of a canteloupe.  It is very long, a fact that I blame entirely on my husband, who is the size and shape and general consistency of a giant.  In addition, I am fairly certain that my baby is going to pop out with a black belt.  My entire day is spent feeling kick kick flutter bang kick bam flutter kick bang poke SWOON.

I also increasingly find that a large number of items in my daily life - items such as beach balls and circles - are significantly less round than my belly.  And, as luck would have it, all of these items are also significantly less round than my enormous pregnant milk jugs of doom.  Someday, the baby and I will make a great karate duo.  The kid will kick down the bad guys and I will smother them with my bosom.

But I thought it would be inappropriate to post a picture of my breasts on the Internet this early in the game.  My husband would probably only agree if I placed a censorship bar across the nipples, something that read “Property of Donald” anyway.

I well remember being your size and shape.  I found it relaxing to not worry about the shape of my body for the first time.  Funny thought.

What a cute tummy!!  You’re one of those tiny, adorable pregnant people, aren’t you?  :)

It would be equal parts awesome and awful if your kid came out a ninja.

ahhh-the ninja kicks of craziness.  Altho when I was pregnant with the Chicken I felt her hiccups before her kicks.

Wow!  Your first child on the way…you will now and forever have blogging material:)  Only 3 more to go and then I will officially consider you & hubby as “parents”!  Best of luck…I’ll keep checking in to see how the pregnancy goes.

Seeing that picture almost makes me nostalgic for my pregnancies.

    Almost.

But I’ve VERY excited for you.

The belly shot is great!  How exciting this all is!  Half way there!  I remember how exciting this time was.  It does make me nostalgic, but I’m glad it’s you not me at this point!  My first pg was so terrific.  With the twins…it was fine, but I had that cute belly for about 5 minutes at 12 weeks.  It wasn’t many weeks later that people asked me if my baby was going to be born soon.

BTW: From what I can tell from photos, your giant husband looks a little like Jason Segel from “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,“ or even better, Nick from “Freaks and Geeks.“
