Trois mois.
October 21, 2009

Yesterday, you turned three months old.  Happy three months!

Your eyes are still bright blue, but we are beginning to see small specks of hazel in them.  It feels like everyone within a three hour radius has a bet placed on whether your eyes will wind up blue or brown.  If your eyes stay blue, then I demand to know who your mother is, missy.  Either way, we know that you are certainly your father’s daughter.  You have your father’s eyes - their deep furrows, their wide shape, their luster, their expression.

This month, you and I have started to take two walks a day.  The sunlight is turning your hair from blonde to red.  People tease your father about this all the time.  It is increasingly looking like he is going to have a tall, slender, blue-eyed redhead on his hands one day.  Don’t be surprised if he invites all his brothers and their shotguns over to meet the first boy who picks you up for a date.  He might even roast a lamb on a spit in the front yard for good measure.

Your favorite thing to do is to snuggle with me in the afternoon.  You love to cuddle and coo while I recite poems and lullabies to you, and then you fall asleep with a big, goofy smile on your face.  You also love staring at yourself in the mirror and standing up on our laps while we make silly noises at you.

Your father and I adore you a little more everyday, Monkey.  Every night, we watch you fall asleep and we whisper to one another how much we love you, how we never dreamed that parenting you would be this much fun, and how we hope all sorts of wonderful, happy things for your future.

We love you more than bears love honey, sweet baby.  (And everybody knows that’s an awful lot).

Ok, now you’ve put tears in my eyes.

I have a daughter-in-law with my first grandchild, a girl, living in Virginia Beach… too far away from Gramma!  She has a blog very similar to yours… I really enjoy reading them both….

Anyway, keep up the good work, great pictures, loving that baby… she will be 14 before you know it!

How precious! I just love these letter to children posts, wish I had done that. It is so sweet to journal for them about their life, what a neat thing for them to have later!
