After this, I bought maternity jeans.

Over the weekend, those nice people down the road gave us three boxes of candy hearts.  One was for Donald; I ate it.  One was for me; I ate it.  And one was for “Guava,“ which is their nickname for the baby.  I ate that box of candy hearts too.  Shortly after we took this picture, my father called me and said that he and She-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named spent some time in the produce aisle at a grocery store and decided that they think The Guava (who was once called The Kiwi) is, maybe, possibly, actually The Papaya.  But certainly not yet The Cassava or The Watermelon.

So that illustration?  There?  In the corner?  That little piece of green-oval design that is plastered on the image of my belly?  You see the one?  With the grin?  Yeah.  I know it looks like something that would be very tasty in a martini, but it’s actually a guava.  My guava.  Which now has a bladder that should torture me throughout the potty-training years.

I love your little guava. Especially its one curly hair. Give it a couple months and it’ll be a papaya.
