Happenings: Cherished and forgettable.
October 03, 2009

For awhile, I lost the camera that I was using to take simple daily snapshots of our lives.  Since I rediscovered it this past week in a drawer, I thought it was time for the next chapter of those twinkling, trivial, fantastic moments that have happened in my home.  Our happenings.  Our whimsical, quicksand-like, delete-able, forgettable, much cherished happenings.

Love is the chain whereby to lock a child to its parent.  - Abraham Lincoln

1.  She cried and even though she had already eaten, I put her to my breast.  For the first time, she suckled for comfort instead of hunger.  She looked me in the eye and grasped onto my hair and my fingers the whole time.  This comfort suckling has become my favorite part of every day.

2.  While Donald worked on his truck, Hank laid listlessly nearby.  It’s okay, buddy, I said as I rubbed his belly.  We’ll have more time for belly rubs and long walks again soon.  It was a lie.  He still gets belly rubs, but not as many, and he still has walks, but they aren’t as long.  I feel like I’m letting him down.

3.  Can you believe she’s four weeks old?  We whispered to each other in the dark.  Four weeks old!  Already!  So we took a bunch of pictures and then we kissed each other a little longer that night because life passes too quickly.  Then we blinked.  Can you believe she’s eleven weeks old?  We whispered to each other last night.

4.  When we blow air in her face, she grins and belly laughs.  So when he got home from work, he blew air in her face and she giggled.  Then I blew air in her face and she stopped.  “Maybe she’s not used to two people doing it at once,“ I said.  “Or maybe she thinks your breath stinks,“ he replied.  I flipped him off.  The next time he blew air in her face, she looked confused.  But when I did it, she laughed.

It does pass quickly - 11 weeks?  That’s so hard to believe!  Love your pictures, as always.  :)

Look at that, double whammy on the Heidis. Sweet. Poor Hank! You just wait until Charlotte is old enough to pester the shit out of Hank.

Hank’s nose is so big and pink. I love it. It’s a perfect dog nose.

I love this gallery post of photos. What a whirlwind couple of months it has been. So amazing and so wonderful. And yes you are right, it moves so fast.

I know just what you mean about the dog. We also have a cat. They just keep getting lower on the totem pole. My hope is that they need less now that they are older. It’s tough, when they used to be our babies.
