How I measure my parenthood.

Sometimes I look at the bottoms of her feet at the end of the day and I think that if they’re filthy - covered in mud from walking barefoot through the garden, or covered in paint from swishing a paintbrush to and fro over the concrete, or covered in sticky juice from nibbling on an orange plucked from our trees - then I’ve done something right.

And I think you are right. Clean kids aren’t fun kids.

Lol, my husband and I were just commenting on this last night. We went for an evening walk and I glanced down at Charlotte’s leg kicking happily in the Bob and that’s when I noticed it. Her knees and the tops of her feet were filthy. I could have thought - dang maybe it’s time to mop the floors, but then I decided it just meant we had a busy day playing and exploring.

I love little feet. I can’t get enough of Jude’s toes.
