I heart my husband.
April 28, 2009

It’s the little things that tell me he’s happy.

The mornings he wakes me up with a frenzy of husband kisses.  The evenings he welcomes me home with a pat on the belly and a smooch on the cheek.  The thousands of times he volunteers to make dinner or squeeze fresh lemonade or run to the grocery for a gallon of milk.

It’s the consistency that tells me he’s there.

The furrow of his brow when he’s resolving a problem.  The excitement in his eyes when he talks about the family we’re building together.  The strength and warmth of his arms when I’ve had a bad day, the feel of his cotton shirt against my face, the rhythmic heartbeat.

It’s the sacrifices that tell me he cares.

The times he takes an entire day from work to attend a doctor’s appointment and tuck a sick wife into bed.  The nights he stays up late sorting out taxes.  The millions of times he puts aside what he may want for what we may need.

And then there are the kisses.

Puckering up when I ask if I’m driving him insane.  Smacks on the lips in the middle of the day JUST BECAUSE.  Kisses on the hand and the shoulders and the lips and the forehead and the cheek.  Pecks goodbye in the morning.  Grabbing the whole of me close to him with a passionate welcome after work.  Kisses in the sunlight and the moonlight, in the morning and the evening, in happiness and sadness.

It’s the kisses that tell me he loves me.

How do you show love?

    Aw, what a sweet post!

And yes, it is the kisses. It’s always about the kisses here, too :)

The kisses, the puppy dog looks, the hugs, the random ass smacks, the hugs

I feel the need to call my hubby now :)

That’s another thing, we call each other through the day, just to see how the other’s doing.

This is so adorable. You sound so new in love. How long have you two been together? *Wondering if I should have checked the about page before posting my Q*

My husband and I are way too comfortable with each other now - or something…. We’ve been together for 13 years (hey… today is the day we started dating… 13 years ago!); married for 5 this May. It’s so not the same anymore… I miss what you’re describing. I should probably try to do something special for him tonight. :)

Aw, I really like this post.  Yep, Andrew and I are about kisses too.  I find myself just kissing his shoulders and back in bed in the morning for no reason.

Sounds like you have a good man, there.  I need to teach mine how to squeeze lemonade…

hmm… that’s a good question.  Stopping the middle of work or a project or whatever to tell my husband that I’m thinking about him.  Sending him text messages, he loves those.  And of course some other things that won’t be named here (wink wink).

    How do I Show Love?
By not beating him with a skillet every time he leaves his kleenex in his dirty laundry and it goes through the washer. By not running him over with a Brinks truck when he asks why I’m eating Mint Chip ice cream even tho I didn’t have a work out that day. And then making him eat half that pint of ice cream, so he can share the guilt.

Nope.  No random kissing in my house.  He shows me he loves me when he cleans the toilet.  Oh, and when he sits in the middle of the floor with me with a glue gun in one hand and pony beads in the other, working on some sort of scout craft.

    How do I show love?

    I keep him well fed.

This reads like the script for a rom-com montage!

I like the new photos of Jason Segel. It’s the first time I’ve seen him without a furrowed brow and a befuddled smirk.

Sorry about the butt jab. Get one of those hemorrhoid cushions. They really class up a toilet.

    What a beautiful post.  :)

My hubby lets me sleep in for another hour in the mornings… goodbye and coming-home kisses… among other things.

I like your blog.  I’ll definitely be back to read more.

    Thanks for stopping by mine.

What a beautiful story.  This is my first stop at your blog and I’m so glad I found you.

My husband and I show love very similarly to you…kisses all the time, long embraces, little favors here and there.  And we do them every day.
