The three-year-old brain is one of the great mysteries of the universe.

Me:  Okay, sweetheart, it’s time for some quiet rest time in the bedroom.

Charlotte:  But I don’t want quiet time!

Me:  I know, darling, but getting enough rest is really important if we’re going to shake that stomach bug you have.

Charlotte:  Oh.  Okay.  *silence while we gather her books*  Hey Momma?

Me:  Yeah, baby?

Charlotte:  Does the mail lady have quiet time too?

Me:  Hm.  I don’t know, what do you think?  Maybe you should ask her next time we see her.

Charlotte:  I think she doesn’t.  I think she DOES NOT have quiet time.  When I grow up, I will be a mail lady and not have any quiet time.

Me:  You can be and do whatever you want when you grow up, darling.

Charlotte:  Yeah, except I can’t be a daddy rabbit.  My ears are too short.

** Charlotte is three years and three months old.  I am ready to pop!

Kids are amazing when they start talking. The things they say just slay me on a regular basis. Our kids are grown but we babysit (one due at 5 am today-hence the time stamp on this comment) and at just over two she just blows me away with her logic and reasoning.

I love how she rationalizes why she can’t be a daddy rabbit :)

    Mary - YES!

Janie - Me too!  LOL I said “oh, THAT’s the reason you can’t be a Daddy rabbit?“ and she looked at me like I was a total moron.  Yes, mom.  THAT is why I can’t be a Daddy rabbit.  Sheesh.  Stupid woman asking stupid questions =P

This is so cute! I love how kids rationalize what they want to be when they grow up. My little brother and his best friend wanted to grow up to be the guys who ride on the back of the garbage truck because in their three-year-old minds, **What could POSSIBLY be more awesome than hanging off the back of a moving vehicle all day long?!** Haha.
