Two months.
September 19, 2009

Tomorrow you will be two months old.

These are the perfect pictures of you at this age.  This is how I always hope I remember your infancy: happy, sweet, blissful perfection.  When I saw them on the camera, I think my heart skipped a beat.  These, love monkey, THESE ARE YOU.  Happy two months, my love.

At two months of age, you are 24 inches (61 centimeters) long and you weigh 9 pounds, 8 ounces (4.3 kilograms).  You are going to be a giant, just like your father.  Although you’re only two months old, you are already wearing six-month clothing because of your length.  Your eyes are still bright blue, although they are darker than when you were born.  You love to grab my hair and my fingers when you nurse and you LOVE having your diaper changed.

You mimic the sounds and faces I make at you all day long.  Last week, plush toys that light up or make sound began to enthrall you, especially one that your grandparents picked out.  Your favorite things to do are: a) study our faces, and b) coo and stare at yourself in the mirror.  You can hold your head up for half an hour.  We walk around with you in the wrap, facing outward to the world, all the time and I hold your little feet because they get cold.

Each and every day, your father and I cherish you.  There is no doubt in our minds that this is what we were born for: to have you.  I love being your mother more than I could have ever imagined.  You are the light of our lives and there is nothing in this world - NOTHING - that could ever stop us loving you.  We adore your coos and your grins.  Your laugh makes us laugh.  We talk about you ad nauseam and we love watching you grow.  You are the best thing to ever happen to us.  Never doubt that for a minute.

Baby girl, we love you more than bears love honey.  (And everybody knows that’s an awful lot).

Wow is she ever cute.  She has such a beautiful face for a two month old!!  How tall is Donald?

It totally breaks my heart when they are in such “old baby” clothes at such a young age.  She’s the sweetest, Sarah.

Fleuris - Thank you =)  Donald is a giant and he always has been.  He stands at 6’7” today, but he also hit 5’0” when he was in kindergarten.  Just for the record, I hit 5’0” IN HIGH SCHOOL.

Just joy! She is such a sunny girl.

Hah—I hit 5’0” in high school too!

Sarah, you really touch a nerve with all of these posts. I’ve been doing a lot of soul searching lately about whether or not I want children, and I am just not sure. I am not a “born to be a mother” type, to say the least. I don’t even like children. I like PICTURES of them, but that’s about it!

I am an only child married to an only child and we both have very small families with very few children. I know my husband would be a great father, but I just really don’t know about my own feelings. I know I would love my kids, but the type of adoration you have for Charlotte, I just can’t imagine myself ever feeling the same way.

Anyway—I just wanted to let you know how beautiful I think all of your posts are, and your gorgeous daughter, and how you are helping me in some way to work through this—somehow. :)

Sarah those are amazing photos of a beautiful girl.  Her happy face and wonderful smile are a joy.

    Lordy she is CUTE.

No wonder her onesies all look so loose!  I constantly wondered, do you just find clever clothes or is my kiddo just super chubbalicious, or both?  NOW I KNOW YOUR SECRET.

Two months, wow. Happy 1/6 birthday, Charlotte!

Amber - I have an e-mail for you, so keep your eyes open.  It might take me a day or two to finish, though, because, um, I’m a horrid e-mail writer.  But EYES OPEN, it’ll get there =)

Alison - Snuggles from Charlotte to Liam!  What a great name!

Tabitha - She’s deceptive.  She smiles like me and has slight dimples like me, but in all honesty, Charlie looks Just. Like. Donald.  I’ve got the upper half of the ears and that’s it lol.  I keep thinking I should scan our baby pictures to show who she looks like.  Maybe I’ll do that sometime soon.  Or maybe it’ll take me a year, we’ll see =P

Sarah—I’ll keep an eye out, and thanks in advance =)

    Enjoy EVERY minute of it.
